Not the typical warning one might expect while on a trip to Antarctica.
After a day of orientation for my upcoming job as a fire dispatcher at McMurdo Station, I had a few hours to
kill. While on the way to the training facility Wednesday morning, I noticed a nice state park down the street from the hotel. So on a beautiful Colorado afternoon in October I went for a walk. It was around 36 degrees and snowing. Perfect.
This was the first sign I noticed as I entered Cherry Creek State Park in Aurora, Colorado:

Sadly, no. Pavel kept leaping into my suitcases as I packed last Tuesday. He wanted to stow away, but the pets have to stay home and keep my wife company.
Soon enough you’ll be seeing “Beware of Penguins” signs…..those thing are crazy…
